Haggerty raring to go for British GT round 1

British GT Round 1 Preview | OULTON PARK, UK

17th April 2017

After a very strong debut season in British GT, finishing 3rd in the championship and winning Rookie of the Year at the SRO Awards, I am looking forward to having another assault on the GT4 championship this year with the Black Bull/Garage 59 McLaren 570S GT4. I am once again partnering Sandy Mitchell, who was a great team-mate last year. It looks like it’s going to be a tough season with lots of quick drivers competing, but Sandy and I are up for the challenge.

There are a few changes this year, most notably the addition of a second car in the team. Akhil Rabindra and Dean MacDonald are new to GT racing and I’m looking forward to working with them and sharing the things I learned last year.

Also, with Black Bull as title sponsor, I am very excited to be driving the car in its new, very striking livery, which is grey, chrome red and white. Another exciting prospect for 2017 is being part of the McLaren GT Driver Academy. It’s a real honour and I hope to do it proud by having some good results this year.

We recently tested at Rockingham and Snetterton. I was impressed with how well the car performed. We made lots of setup changes and are definitely moving in the right direction. Sandy and I are very similarly matched on pace too, which bodes well for the year ahead.

I would like to say a massive thank you to Black Bull Whisky, Advance Construction Scotland, and Production Glass Fibre for their continued support. I would also like to welcome on board Novitec, a tuning company which modifies cars such as Ferrari, Maserati, and Lamborghini and more recently the McLaren 570S. Thank you to all my sponsors for your support and to the people working behind the scenes, which has allowed me to continue to pursue my dream of becoming a professional racing driver. I look forward to seeing you all at the podium this year!
